Course Duration - 3 days (2 hours/night for 3 nights) Course Description
This course is ideal new or "about-to-be" boat owners, new boat owners, hunters, anglers and cottagers - who use their boat for transportation and pleasure. All boaters who want to have more fun, and less stress on the water. This course covers "need-to-know" info with fast-paced text, illustrated with humorous cartoons. The Boating Course is open to the public. Separated into Parts I and II, students may take the CCG exam after completing Part I. With a passing grade of 75%, students will receive their CCG Pleasure Craft Operator Card. CPS examination of the entire course follows completion of Part II. The course kit for correspondence or independent study includes Student Notes; Homework Folder; one Training Chart "A"; Chart No. 1; Collision Regulations; Government Publications; and CPS Course Plotter. The Basic Boating Course has two starting date/times. The first course begins in September and runs to a December exam. The second course begins in January and runs to March. Both courses take place each Tuesday at the Wallaceburg Service Centre, on James Street. Course Contents

Course Description
Module I introduces the student to Maritime Mobile Service, Regulations and Procedures. Students are taught the uses of marine radios, choice of frequencies, operation, phonetic alphabet, procedural words and phrases. Module II covers Digital Selective Calling and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System, (DSC/GMDSS). This module is of great importance. The availability of DSC is being greatly expanded. All mariners, including recreational boaters, will want to take advantage of the many features and capabilities of this innovative form automatic radio. Course Contents

Boat Pro is an introduction to the legal, and safe practices of boating. This course is held in very high regard to
members of various boating organizations and is one of the first of its kind to be accredited by the Canadian Coast Guard
for the training it provides and the requirements needed to obtain operator competency and a Pleasure Craft Operator Card.
This manual will enable you to pass the Industry Canada Restricted Radiotelephone Operator's Certificate
Exam, which will be given at the conclusion of the teaching session.
